AI Document Utility: Scan, Extract, Rename, File — One Pipeline
Document AI is a workflow, not a chatbot. Scan → fields → a sane filename is the job scanners skip.
Document utility demand is durable. Scanners are crowded — the opening is a specific PDF job people still do badly on phones.
Contracts, tickets, homework, tax PDFs, and WhatsApp-forwarded scans are everyday Android work. The category never goes away. Generic “PDF scanner” is already a graveyard of clones.
This brief is part of the Android problem-space map. It is here so we can measure interest — opens, read depth, and related clicks — before anyone writes an app spec.
Users bounce between Drive, Adobe, CamScanner-class apps, OEM notes, and Gmail attachments. Merge/split/sign/compress each lives in a different app. Files get renamed document (3).pdf.
Adobe, Microsoft, Google Drive, CamScanner and lookalikes, Xodo/Foxit for enthusiasts. Play is saturated with scanner skins and watermark upsells.
A workflow, not a format zoo: “WhatsApp image stack → one clean PDF,” “fill this government form offline,” “reduce this email attachment under 5 MB,” “sign and send without an account.” Local-first still differentiates against cloud suites.
List the ten PDFs you actually handled last month. Search Play for those verbs, not “PDF.” Read reviews of scanners for “subscription after scan” and “can’t merge.” If your wedge overlaps a shipped GIXSOFT PDF job, sharpen the wedge instead of cloning the suite.
